Old Police House – Hyde Park, London

The Old Police House in Hyde Park was built in the 1870s and is still home to an operating police unit, as well the Royal Parks office. When the original windows and wooden doors needed to be replaced, Wood Window Alliance member Heron Joinery were appointed to design, manufacture and install the replacements.

The overriding consideration was to ensure the replacement wood windows and doors provided close replication of the originals to retain the look of the old historic elevations of the building; matching the sightlines of the existing windows and doors was key. Heron Joinery worked closely with local conservation to achieve this right from design stage.

The products designed and manufactured by Heron Joinery for this project included:

  • Shaped and Standard Sliding Sashes
  • Casement Windows.
  • Traditional 58mm Doors, encompassing single and double doors (shaped and standard) and fire rated doors and screens

Heron Joinery provided an end-to-end package for the Old Police House and successfully completed the contract over several months, accommodating the working police by installing only outside of working ours – mainly at weekends.
